Having previously provided beautiful songs such as “The Woman I Am” and “It’s Going To Be A Long Night”, Sammie has released a personal song, dedicated and in memory of her father titled “You’re In My Heart Too” on 6th March 2026.

A delicate, intimate and extremely personal acoustic song about loss, grief and how we choose to remember and move forward.

“Can’t wrap my head around this situation.

You’re not here anymore.

What I would give, for one more conversation. Instead I’m crying on the floor.”

The lyrics start off strong and powerful yet fully focused on a change of events. It recounts the longing of more time, or ‘one more conversation’ when loved ones are no longer with us. So much is the depths of bereavement that it can find us ‘crying on the floor’.

“I hope you’re flying high.

Above the clouds in the sky.

I know the love from the ones you left behind,

I hope you took it with you.

Because you’re in my heart too.”

The chorus speaks of optimism and hope for the deceased. Whilst ‘flying high’ can be linked to a reference of heaven, it too can also be linked to personal ambition. Whilst friends may not be as close as family, there are some who we might consider family and we become distant from as either they, or ourselves ascend and have high flying careers. “I know the love from the ones you left behind” in this context could be all the people who have been the foot rungs on the ladder to your success. Of course, given the context to the song, it’s speaking of knowing that those who have left us know, and realise, the love that others had for them.

“I thought we would have much more time together,

I miss the sound of your voice

Now you have wings, fly gentle as a feather.

Gotta let you go have no choice.”

The verse recounts the emotions naturally felt following the passing of a loved one or close friend. It’s not uncommon to reflect on time, the times shared but it also sharpens the focus on our own mortality and indeed how we embrace life. I hope that many, including Sammie will realise that this song provides a voice to their feelings as well as a voice to the deceased. The acoustic performance of the song enhances the reference to having wings and ‘fly gentle as a feather’ with its floaty and flowing nature similar to a lone feather blowing in the wind. Similarly, whilst the feather symbolises our emotions, (up in the air), often there is a gradual comedown back to a sense of relative normality. “Gotta let you go, have no choice” is a somewhat poetic lyric as it gives a subtle reference to not knowing when our time is up, and yet our demise in some cases can be determined by ourselves so we do have a choice.

The song returns to the chorus, again referencing the sky and the clouds with the imagery of heaven. These words albeit are wishful thinking ‘I hope’ yet can help in providing closure at what is otherwise a very distressing and upsetting time.

“Your soul has flown away from here

That we will always hope that you’re near

These broken hearts fall as stone

Always a glass to say goodbye (goodbye)”

These lyrics paint some beautiful and evoking imagery of our souls flying away. “We will always hope that you’re near” is a sentiment I think most, if not all feel after loss and in the depths of grief, however as the chorus suggests, they are close because “you’re in my heart too”. I appreciate how Sammie references how many consider raising a glass in memory of loved ones, be that a favourite alcoholic tipple, or something softer, the sentiment in still there and still very much out of respect.

Returning once more to the chorus, the song and lyrics provide a a deeply personal yet relatable feeling. Irrespective of the relation to the departed, and the time since their passing, the feeling still raw and delicate definitely resonates through the track.

“Always in my heart too, forever in my heart too.”

The song finishes ever so gently with the lasting thought that they (the loved one) are not gone, and will continue to shine bright in our hearts. In many respects they live on through our lives too, having shaped and influenced our lives, often for the better.

“You’re in My Heart Too” was released 6th March 2026 and is available for you to download and stream from all your usual music platforms. Be sure to follow Sammie on social media, or check out her website www.sammiesoravia.co.uk/ for more details about her and her upcoming music and appearances.
